SOooooooooooooo many guys doing Orks.

I'll just have to make sure mine are that much better. I am putting some heavy expectations on the quality of my work. Yikes.

I HAVE DECIDED!! My declaration and February vows.

...and I shall be getting some Green Feevah! (tm Matthew Fosen)

I have decided to finally cave in. I went to the local gaming store, Comic Readers in Medicine Hat, looking at all the various 40k stuff. I've had it in my head to help out my girlfriend with her army, build a big one together. This will be the perfect opportunity. I picked up a few things today.

My February vows, the first month of 6 in our Tale of More Gamers is as follows:

Boss Zagstruk
5 Stormboyz
10 Boyz including a big shoota and a Nob w/ Power Klaw and Boss Pole

250 points on the dot if my math is right. 1500pts of orks is probably insane considering I still have 48 left to do in my commission work (which btw the customer was very happy with). Oh well!

ALSO... I picked up, rather was given, around 500 or 600pts of guard! Creed and Kell, a TON of heavy weapons, an entire platoon with 5 squads and about 10 each of plasma and melta guys. So fantastic. Thanks to Dennis for it! Right place right time.

Here are some more pictures of my first commission work. Man, after doing a ton of orks, my blending is gonna be down pat.

Yellow is a mofo though. Not really sure how else to do it. If anyone out there has good yellow tips that don't involve yellow ink, let me know!

And oh yeah, still can't solidly decide on an army. I hate indecision.

Some pictures!

I am still undecided on my "Tale Of" army but certainly leaning towards Chaos Marines or Eldar. We are even getting more players.

However, what I do have are the first pics I've taken from my first commission work. I have a ton o' orks to do. I've been working on the skin on the first twelve, lemme know whatcha think!

I am so stuck right now. Tale of Four Gamers (or me, Schmiddters and Desert Rat anyhow) begins soon and I have no idea what to do!

Here are my ideas. Give me feedback!

Chaos Marines: Chaos Lord, Daemon Prince, 10 unmarked Marines in a rhino, 8 berserkers in a rhino and 7 plague marines in a rhino (magic chaos numbers!) and 2 vindicators.

Eldar: A one of everything list based on the Ulthwe Strikeforce datasheet... loosely based: Farseer and 3-4 Warlocks, 10-15 guardians, 10 storm guardians and a warlock on a wave serpent, 10 dire avengers and an autarch on a serpent, 6 striking scorpions and an autarch, 6 rangers, 3 jet bikes, 3 vypers, wraithlord

Tau: Ugh Tau lists are so hard to make. I doubt I will even bother but I have: a crisis suit boss, two teams of 3 crisis suits (1 for heavier stuff, 1 for troops), 2 broadsides, 2 units of fire warriors in devilfishes, 6 drones, a flanking kroot squad and a krootox heavy kroot squad

Not sure what else I would wanna do. A big ole Blood Angel list o' doom is still floating around in my head. Maybe a Radical Daemonhunter force to ally with my marines and sisters. I could expand my Novamarines or do a whole different chapter for that matter. Deathwing would be SO few models but also frustrating as all hell to play. That's about the options I am willing to go for unless someone can tempt me with something else. Time is running out.

Help me Obi-wan (or whoever reads this) you're my only hope.

Late Sunday... nothing much to say... but what the hey!

I am finding I really have to more patient with 40k. I know how to play it, but I've been doing Fantasy so much lately I keep getting rules mixed up. I also worry too much when I start losing a couple squads quick. Case in point: today.

I played a 2000pt game. My Imperial Guard vs my good friend's Biel Tan Eldar. I was intimidated from the get go. I've faced it a few times now. He beat my guard before (though a different list), beat my marines, drew my sisters recently on Vassal. He regularly wins with his list. He has yet to lose maybe? I can't remember. Regardless I will post both our lists after this schpiel.

Things looked grim right off the bat. We had Dawn of War deployment and Secure and Control (the one with an objective in each end). I deployed my HQ Command Squad and both platoons up fairly far, putting a platoon on each side of the board hiding them in cover, putting big guns in good firing lanes. He deployed his Avatar and 2 squads of Dire Avengers up as far as he could. Second round? I don't think anything of mine even came on! My reserve rolling was ridiculously bad and cost me alot of valuable time. I wanted to use one platoon, the one way away from the objective that he was ignoring, to go and get it but had to keep them in place much longer then I woulda liked.

In the end it was a draw. I had actually made a good comeback and destroyed a large portion of his force. He had one half squad or so of Avengers on his objective and only one more of 5 on their way over. I had killed the other 2 squads plus his avatar and a bunch of other stuff.

Hellhounds were absolutely killer in this game. Two of them counted nearly all my kills. The Avatar went down to sustained (as in all game) heavy weapons fire. He was right on my lines, I had to kill him. His Scorpions whooped shit too, killing a tank, my command HQ and some more guard. Ogryns finished them AND Banshees off. NEVER EVER EVER underestimate Ogryns. Yes, they are over priced and I take them because I love them so much (total baby unit, we all have one) but they are VERY effective at what they do.

Overall a really really fun game. Too bad we can't play together more often. It certainly kick started my urge to get my guard finished up, that's for sure.

The lists!

Biel Tan: Avatar, Farseer o' Doom/Fortune, 4 squads of Dire Avengers (2 w/ defend, 2 w/ bladestorm), x6 Scorpions, x10 Banshees, x10 Warp Spiders, x10 (or something) Swooping Hawks, 6 or so Fire Dragons, 3 Dark Reapers, 3 Shining Spears. Very fluff Biel Tan, all with exarchs.

Imperial Guard: Command HQ with x2 plasma and a commissar, x3 mortar, x3 missile launchers, Platoon HQ w/ x2 flamer, 2 squads with grenade launcher/autocannon, 2 with lascannon/grenade, another platoon HQ like the last, 3 squads of guard all with grenade launchers (2 with autocannons, 1 with lascannon), 8 flank marching vets with x2 meltas, 6 ogryns in a chimera, 2 hellhounds, 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, 1 Leman Russ Demolisher.

As for the "Tale of..." it seems to have very much stalled. I am going to wait and see what happens but I have a feeling it will be on hold. I am gonna suggest an escalation league, but only for one system (40k works best. Fantasy doesn't work as well at really low points) I am disappointed, but hey, it happens.

Oh... and me and my girlfriend are starting Ogres together for Fantasy! Crazy.

BRAINSSSSSSS

I posted some marines, so why not some of my (currently) main Warhammer Fantasy army... Vampire Counts!

I told Doomsby I'd post some pictures of my previously painted Novamarines. Looking back I am far from happy with them. Even in the short time since I think my painting has improved quite a bit. I am starting to slowly understand blending and highlighting better.

These are the marines from the Assault on Black Reach boxed set.

OMGZ! Could I change my mind? Chaos/Renegade Marines? Eldar?! OMGZOMAOMZZZ

Ah good ole indecision, how you haunt me so. Anyone else ever have this problem? You get an idea you really like and then suddenly... "...maybe I should do (this) instead!" and there goes your mind wandering off. Ugh. Stay tuned. I have till the 25th to make a final decision though I am still hooked on the Blood Angels successor idea. I dunno why. Even with people trying to disuade me, saying you MUST take a special character to do so.

I am gonna post some alternate lists in the comment section of that post. Feel free to discuss!

And so it begins...

It looks like we'll go through with this Tale of MORE Gamers. A lil twist is that we'll have simultaneous Fantasy and 40k sections.

I am doing 40k and working on what I should be starting. We have until the 25th so I do have time... just not decision making skills. My early thought is Blood Angels but as you read this blog over time you'll realize my mind changes more often then my underwear. At least once a week.

Here's my working 1500pt list:

Captain: Thunderhammer, Stormbolter 135pts (Maybe use the Master of the Fleet model) **Yes, I know... everyone wanted me to change him *

Chaplain: Jump Pack 120pts

Tactical Squad x10 : Vt Sgt w/ powerfist 25pts
: Flamer, Heavy Bolter 205pts
: Razorback 50pts

Tactical Squad x10 : Vt Sgt w/ powerfist 25pts
: Flamer, Heavy Bolter 205pts
: Razorback 50pts

Assault Squad x10 : 250pts
: Vt Sgt w/ Powerfist, Combat Shield 35pts

Death Company x6 : Jet Packs 120pts

Vindicator : Extra Armor 140pts

Vindicator : Extra Armor 140pts

I find it to be a bit armor heavy for Blood Angels... or likely Angels Sanguinus. I have some ideas for changes including dropping the assault squad and something else to get a veteran assault squad (so much better for the points). Maybe drop the razorbacks and assault squad as is, get a VAS, bump up the DC and add in some flanking scouts? Of course I don't mind the idea of an armor heavy team. I could make one squad sans razorback and give the vt sgt a combi weapon or something to make them a firebase. Then use the pts from the razorback and the assault squad for a VAS. Oh, decisions, decisions!
Let's give this a go. This is a vampire, obviously, for my Vampire Counts army. Looking at this on a big picture like this and on table top is soooo different. It looks blended in person but man... a camera adds 10 lbs... or in this case mistakes and layers.

Here is a corpse cart I had on the shelf as well. You'll see an in progress Vargulf to one side and a tank in the background. A 40k tank, not a fantasy one! Huh?

So it begins!

So I've went ahead and started my own blog. It'll be pretty much just painting and projects relating to Warhammer and what not. Who knows though, maybe I'll throw in other stuff too!

I got the motivation when the club here, M.O.R.K.S started talking about doing a Tale of Four Gamers project. If that goes through expect that work here too. Random stuff may appear, commission work... you'll just have to tune in and see.

In the meanwhile I am going to figure out how this works and hopefully get a few pictures up.
